Workshop Project
During my time at Guild, I had the opportunity to design and deliver a series of workshops to the Training Delivery team, in an effort to enhance their skills and introduce key concepts pertaining to adult learning theory.
This workshop was focused on the launch of a gamified learning solution platform (Kahoots), which would allow Trainers to create short question-based games for their classes. The workshop introduces Bloom’s Taxonomy, Costa’s Levels of Questioning, Karl Kapp’s Gamification of Learning, and accessibility standards for building questions in Kahoots.
NOTE: This slide deck has been recreated from the version I created for Guild. As such, all Guild branding and proprietary information has been removed. The generic branding is meant to help viewers of the slide deck to envision a similar experience customized to your specific needs.

Needs Analysis
-
First, I met with the leaders of the Learning Design and Learning Delivery teams to identify their goals and needs for the project. During these discussions, I confirmed specific adult learning theories to include in the workshop, the format of the session, and scheduling details for implementation.
-
Next, I met with the Learning Designers, Trainers, and Training Administrators to identify their goals, needs, and wants for the workshop. These meetings helped me determine the specific needs of the learners who would attend my workshop.
-
Finally, I researched the specific adult learning theories I would include in the workshop and identified supplementary resources I would provide to learners.
Workshop Design
-
I created the Workshop slide deck using Microsoft PowerPoint. I used the Notes section for each slide to document the directives for the session.
-
Once I finished the design of the workshop, I shared the slide deck with the Training Leader Stakeholders for review, feedback, and approval.
Implementation
-
I met with the Training Leaders to identify the specific date and time they would like me to facilitate the session.
With a date and time selected, I sent email invitations to the Trainers, Learning Designers, and Training Administrators.
Additionally, I generated excitement for the session by notifying the teams during their normally scheduled weekly team meetings that the session was coming up.
-
On the scheduled date, I facilitated the session for the team.
-
To conclude the implementation, I moved the source files for the project to our team shared drive, and ensured the other Learning Designers were notified of the location for future maintenance and edits of the workshop.
Evaluation
-
I gathered feedback from the workshop attendees after the session.
Average Net Promoter Score was 4.0 (of 4.0)
Average Applicability of Content Score was 3.9 (of 4)
-
The final activity of the course required participants to build a gamified learning solution.
All participants were successful.
-
I met with the Training Leaders two months after the workshop to gather feedback on their team's application of the concepts.
Both leaders confirmed their teams were successfully applying the standards introduced in the workshop and no further training on this topic was necessary.
